Venice carnival started in 1162 as a celebration of the Venetian Republic’s victory of the Patriarch of Aquilegia. Over the years it has changed and in 1797 was banned. The carnival was revived in 1979. Now people travel from around the world to wear the most intricate costumes which a lot spend the year designing and making the next carnivals costume. When they wear these stunning costumes they are called masks. Photographers from around the world come to photography such a unique festival. I had the pleasure of travelling to Venice in 2025 and took thousands of photos. These are a small selection from those and taken on my Nikon z7ii and a 24-200mm lens. My creative side also meant I could experiment with such beautiful images.
